Are you tired of standing around in a gym lifting weights STARING at yourself in the mirror, listening to music you don’t really like, getting bored and feeling unmotivated? Tired of the same old routine with limited or no noticeable results? Ever wanted to just unleash your raw power with some finesse & grace..Ever thought of taking some systematic & fun Tennis Lessons? Welcome to me. :-)
This's Dr. Abs Singh .I'm a 27 yr old medical doctor who used to play professionally, before getting into medicine.Right now,I'd rate myself conservatively a 5.0-5.5 on the tennis scale,7.0 being the highest.I coach personalised one-on-one tennis.I've been coaching since 5 years now. I work with your existing technique to help you play a smarter & more competitive game.Together,we work on your weak areas & help improve them gradually but definitely. Some of the areas we'd cover are:
Forehand , Backhand, Serve , Topspin serve , Slice , Chops , Volleys, Smashes , Killer angle shots on both flanks , etc ..

PASADENA or CALL me on (626) 429-4334 to chat with me about it ..]
I specialise in teaching ' Topspin ' (also called as ' forward spin' , 'slicer' , 'brush up ' in popular parlance, like the guys you see on TV.. ) I teach it according to the Modern Tennis Methodology ( MTM-Oscar Wegner school of thought ) of an 'Open Stance ' vis-a-vis the traditional old school method of 'closed stance' with the left knee across & sideways for right handers . This is how the pros are playing modern tennis nowadays & this is how you reduce stress on the joints of your body, importantly the back & the knee joints. It makes playing tennis so much more instinctive & so less mechanical .. :-)
I have the method down pat . With me , I can practically guarantee that within 2 months of a flat forehand, you'll be hitting smooth & relaxed topspins like the pros on the tennis court ,or else lessons are on me until you learn how to !
Being a medical doctor , I also work with your existing physical condition & help you play a intelligent game to last longer on the court . I'll teach you to avoid common tennis injuries from a technical & a medical point of view . If you're prepping for a tournament , I'll formulate a diet, physical & technical regimen for you to follow & to eventually outsmart any opponent of yours off the court,or I help you play a personally more satisfying game , if that is what you're looking for. I can also simply hard-rally with you & give you a good Cardio Tennis Workout...
Tennis as a Cardio Workout.. : Basically & very simply put , that involves tennis training drills which forces the student to run on the tennis court till he/she reaches the desired heart rate for his/her age .
How do you achieve it ? There are a range of motions , namely forward stepping , back stepping , side stepping , baseline run , run-to-net , oblique or diagonal run ,all of these pertaining to hitting groundstrokes ( forehand & backhand ) . Then there are serve drills , volley drills ,over head drills ,all designed to get the heart pumping to desired heart rate / min for that age . I'm a med doc preppin to enter residency , so you need not worry , i've got a good handle from the medical point of view of what a student will or will not be able to handle out there on the tennis court :-)
Tennis as a Cardio Workout works for people who like to work out while playing a fun sport or also for people who want to take a small break from gyms & do something different before they rejoin .
Pro of being a younger Pro..
I , being younger than your typical tennis instructor, can play HARD with you while coaching you, instead of just shouting suggestions from the sidelines or feeding you balls like a human ball machine.Of course , being more EDUCATED than him again,my lessons will be bang on the money in terms of correct technique, because I'm an avid student of the game of tennis besides my field of medicine . I bring the same thoroughness of attention to detail as I do while studying a med text , to tennis stroke analysis ..
About my personality : In my lessons,I'm easygoing , easy to talk to , calm , relaxed , systematic without being compulsive & methodical without being inflexible..
My Credo : I have a unique philosophy of tennis instruction in which I will not micromanage each & every one of your shots on court like most other pros but through a process of intense repetition, will get you where you'd like to be .. Yes,that means no nagging on court . We'll also be having literally a ball on court with our share of fun & laughs !
I coach between the hours of 8 am & 10pm every day of the week on an appointment basis , including weekends. I supply the balls & two 75 ball hoppers . I'm prepping to enter Residency right now so the spare time I have is devoted to spreading my passion for tennis. :-) I have many students & I'd be happy to provide references if you want .
I teach all age groups . I have a spectrum of 15-20 students learning one on one under me right now, little kids to teenagers to the elderly ..
My services also include a free weekly email newsletter designed only for my students . This is information handpicked & researched by me, geared to help you play smarter & more competitively . These are tips, pointers, strategies & thinking tools, culled from prestigious tennis magazines, the internet,& some pointers in my own words when i have the time . [ Yup,I do write :-) ] These newsletters will orient your tennis to be more intelligent, more instinctive & more on auto-pilot..! Ultimately , the end goal of these emails is to help you think as smart as the professionals do when they're playing their own tennis. And that's not as hard as it sounds,i guarantee you..

WHAT ONE OF MY STUDENTS HAS TO SAY .. ' As a beginning tennis player I was looking for an instructor who would have the patience and skills necessary to shape and mold a rather strong willed guy like myself. I found all that and more in Abs . His approach is measured, methodical and confident. From not knowing which end of the racquet to hold, Abs has quickly brought me to a much greater understanding of the game and its many subtleties. I'm looking forward to continuing my instruction with him for much time to come.
Write to me at MMPOOK @ AOL.COM & I'll tell you more about Abs & my tennis instruction in Pasadena ..-Matthew Pook, 53 , Film Director , Silverlake.
